Box Score 2 CALDWELL, N.J. - The Queens College baseball team took both ends of a non-conference double header with Caldwell Thursday afternoon. The Knights claimed a 5-0 game one win, before taking the night cap 6-1.
In game one, the Knights jumped out to a 1-0 lead when senior Matt Dawkins singled up the middle, scoring junior Kevin Kolesar.
With the bases loaded in the sixth, sophomore Karl Klesin delivered a three run double to left, plating Dawkins, Kolesar and junior Jorge Ruiz. The Knights then added their final run of the game when freshman Thomas Medina plater freshman Andrew Navarez with single up the middle in the ninth.
On the mound, senior Brandon Burrell went the distance for his fourth win of the season. Burrell allowed five hits and two hits while striking out seven.
In game two, Ruiz took the mound and went six innings in his first start of the season. The righty allowed four hits and three walks while striking out three. Michael Calabrese closed out the game in the seventh.
QC jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning of the finale. Junior Diego Gonzalez plated Kolesar with a single to left. Later in the frame, sophomomre Thomas Parish doubled, scoring Gonzalez and Klesin.
The Knights delivered another three run frame in the third. Parish, Medina and senior James Dononhue each delivered RBI doubles, pushing Queens ahead 6-0.
The Knights are back in action Saturday with another non-league double header, this time at Adelphi. Game one begins at 12:00 pm.
