QC Baseball Edged By Mercy On The Road

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - The Queens College baseball team continued its East Coast Conference series with Mercy Sunday afternoon with a double header at Mercy Field.  The Mavericks came out on top in game one 4-2.  Game two was suspended in the bottom of the fifth with QC ahead 10-9.

Senior Calvin Luk went the distance for Queens in game one, taking the loss afer allowing four runs, two earned.  Luk allowed four hits and three walks in total, while striking out seven.

James Patterson also pitched a complete game for Mercy, allowing two runs with seven strikeouts over nine.

Mercy jumped ahead 2-0 in the first on a home run by Scott Hagan.  The Mavericks added two more runs in the fourth on a two-run single by Charles Fina.

QC cut into the deficit with two runs in the top of the seventh.  Senior Matt Dawkins crossed the plate on a wild pitch.  Junior Kevin Kolesar later came in from third on an RBI single by Karl Klesin, one of just two Queens hits in the game.

Game two will be resumed on a date to be determined.
