Box Score FLUSHING, N.Y. - On Wednesday afternoon, the Queens College baseball team (17-22) won a non-conference battle 5-4 with Wilmington (15-25) at Hennekens Stadium. The Knights found themselves in an early hole after the first inning. Christian Adorno punched a single to right center to score Brooks Ryan and Kendall Small to take a 3-0 lead. Rocky Ferrier plated Adorno in the fourth inning to give the Wildcats a 4-0 lead.
The Knights responded in the bottom of the fourth as junior Joe Morris blasted a double to left center to score classmate Kevin Kolesar and sophomore Karl Klesin to cut the score in half, 4-2. Junior Diego Gonzalez plated Morris home with a single to left field to bring the Knights within one (4-3). In the bottom of the eighth, Morris continued his career day with his third hit of the game as he drove home Klesin to knot the game at 4-4. Freshmen Andrew Navarez later singled to allow Kolesar to advance home with the game winning run.
Junior Kyle Bell (2-2) picked up the win with a strong outing in the eightieth allowing only a hit, while classmate Jorge Ruiz picked up the save (4). Brad Scull (0-4) took the loss allowing one hit and two runs.
UP NEXT: The Knights return to action Thursday afternoon with a non conference game against Nyack live from Provident Bank Park with first pitch slated for 7:00 pm.
