Baseball Stopped By LIU Post In Series Opener

FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Queens College baseball team fell 8-5 Friday afternoon to LIU Post in the first game of its weekend ECC series.  Knotted at five, the Pioneers' three run fifth inning proved to be the difference.

The Knights outhit LIU Post 10-8 in the contest, but were done in by five fielding errors.  Of the road team's eight runs, only four were earned.

Junior Joe Morris led QC with three hits, while sophomore Thomas Parish and junior Ryan Bender had two hits apiece.  Five different players scored runs, and four players had one RBI apiece.

Senior Brandon Burrell (2-2) took the loss, allowing eight runs, four earned, over 5.0 innings.  Sophomore Michael Lamneck threw 3.2 innings of scoreless relief with four strikeouts.
Jake DeCarli went the distance for the Pioneers.  After allowing five runs, three earned, over the first three innings, the right hander settled down and allowed just two hits over the final six frames.
The two teams play a double header in Old Westbury Saturday beginning at 12:00 pm.
