QC Baseball Earns Series Split With Molloy

Box Score

UNIONDALE, N.Y.- In sunny Sunday conditions, the Queens College baseball team (15-18, 7-9 ECC) topped the Molloy College Lions (22-11, 7-5 ECC) 5-1 in East Coast Conference action from Mitchel Field. The Knights drew the season series at 2-2 for the first time in the Chris Reardon era as the Knights continued on their best season since 2010 with 16 games still left to play.

The Knights got on board in the first inning as junior Joseph Pidoto doubled to left to plate classmate Kevin Kolesar and senior JP Koulotouros to take a 2-0 lead. Senior Matt Dawkins extended QC's lead to 3-0 with his second home run of the season with a blast to right field. Kolesar continued his hot streak with the bat as he doubled to left field to score Dawkins to give the Knights a 4-0 lead. Junior Jorge Ruiz headed home as Molloy relief pitcher Matt Castaneda balked to extend the Knights lead to 5-0.

With the early runs behind him, senior Knights pitcher Calvin Luk (2-3) pitched a masterful complete game to pick up the win as he limited the Lions to six hits, while striking out six. Seth Noreman (2-3) took the loss for the Lions, giving up four hits and three runs.

UP NEXT: Looking to keep the momentum going, the Knights return home Tuesday to host a non-conference matchup against Bloomfield from Hennekens Stadium with first pitch slated for 3:00 pm.
