Box Score MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Queens College baseball team continued early season competition Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 setback to No. 4 Franklin Pierce at the Ripken Experience Northeast Challenge. The Ravens did the Knights in with a three run fifth inning before adding five more in the sixth.
Junior Jorge Ruiz led the Knights with two hits in the contest. Junior Kevin Kolesar and senior Matt Dawkins each collected hits in the contest, while Joseph Pidoto contributed a pinch hit double.
Freshman Robert Amato made his first career start for QC, and went 5.2 innings to take the loss. The bullpen quintet of Brendan Kalaf, Yakov Trukhin, David Hernandez, Thomas Zaki and Keith Rogers combined to allow three runs in relief. John Amendola was credited with the win for Franklin Pierce.
The Knights complete their opening weekend Sunday against Merrimack (9:00 am).
