QC Baseball Drops Season Opener To Dominican

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Queens College baseball team opened its 2016 campaign with an 11-10 setback to Dominican (NY) in the first of five games at the Ripken Experience Northeast Challenge.  Knotted at 10, the Chargers plated the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth.

Junior Kevin Kolesar went 2-5 in the contest, with a double and triple.  The infielder also drove in four runs, scored twice, stole a base and walked.  Sophomore Thomas Parrish reached base three times and scored a run.  Junior Jorge Ruiz went 2-3 with a run scored.

Redshirt junior John Dondero started the contest on the hill for the Knights, and delivered six innings.  Dondero surrendered three runs, but just one earned, while striking out five and walking two.

Trailing 9-3 in the seventh, the Chargers countered with five runs in the seventh before tying the game at 10 in the eighth inning.  Dominican scored the game-winning run on a single by Jonathan Martinez.

QC is back in action Friday with a double header against Stonehill.
