Kevin Kolesar Gets Three Hits in 8-5 Loss to Mercy

Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The Queens College baseball team closed out its 2015 campaign with an 8-5 loss to Mercy on Sunday in Dobbs Ferry.  Kevin Kolesar led the Knights with three hits.

 

QC took a 1-0 lead in the first on three singles and a walk.  Matt Dawkins and Kolesar singled.  Dan Walsh walked to load the bases.  From there, Diego Gonzalez drove in Dawkins with an infield hit.  The lead was short-lived, however, as the Mavericks scored three in the bottom of frame to go up, 3-1.

 

Queens tied the game with two runs in the sixth.  Kolesar singled.  He stole second, third and home to account for the first run of the inning.  Joseph Paparella brought in Gonzlaez on a ball that was misplayed for an error.  QC tied the score at 3-3.

 

Mercy went ahead for good in the bottom of the inning scoring three more runs to lead 6-3.  The Knights scored two more the rest of the way, but fell 8-5 in the season finale.

 

The team won five of its last six games and finished with an overall record of 13-22.  They posted a 9-15 mark in East Coast Conference play.
