Paparella and Kolesar Collect RBIs in Loss To Nyack

Pomona, N.Y. - The Queens College baseball team fell to Nyack, 5-4, in ten innings on Thursday, April 9, in Pomona, New York.  Joseph Paparella and Kevin Kolesar each had RBIs for the Knights.

 

Queens fell behind 2-0 in the first as the Warriors scored a pair off of David Hernandez, who was making his first start of the season.  He pitched 6.2 innings, struck out four and gave up three earned runs.

 

QC fought back and scored three times in the third to take a 3-2 lead.  Crissandry Javier walked with one out.  Peter Caravousanos followed with another walk.  Two batters later, Kevin Kolesar tied the game with a two-RBI double.  The Knights got their third run when Matt Dawkins reached on an error and Kolesar scored.

 

The score stayed at 3-2, Queens until the bottom of the seventh, when Nyack scored a pair to take a 4-3 lead.  The Knights rallied in the next inning, though, and tied the game.

 

With two outs, Matthew Walsh walked.  He moved to second on a James Donohue single.  Paparella then tied the game at 4-4 with a clutch, RBI base hit that scored Walsh.

 

The game went into extra innings and Nyack pushed a run across in the bottom of the tenth to win, 5-4.

 

The Queens College baseball team returns to action on Friday, April 10 when they host St. Thomas Aquinas for a weekend series.  The first pitch is slated for 3:30 PM.
