Box Score 2 Sparkill, N.Y. - The Queens College baseball team dropped a pair of East Coast Conference games to St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday by scores of 13-4 and 10-3. Kevin Kolesar was the bright spot for the Knights, going 2-6 with a run scored and 2 RBI.
The opener saw Queens fall behind 4-0 in the first two innings. They managed to get a run on the board in top of the third. Joseph Paparella singled and reached second on a wild pitch. He moved to third on a ground out and scored on a pass ball.
The Spartans scored in the third and led 5-1 when QC scored again in the fourth. Kolesar reached on an infield hit and moved to second on a wild pitch. He came in to score on a passed ball.
QC scored lone runs each in the fifth and the sixth. In the fifth, Matthew Walsh singled to right. James Donohue followed with another hit to right. Thomas Parish ripped a single to center and the bases were loaded. Kolear picked up an RBI with a bases loaded walk.
In the sixth, Matt Dawkins singled and stole second. He moved to third on an error and came home on a C.J. Gerdowsky RBI single.
STAC went on to win 13-4. Brandon Burrell got the start and was tagged with the loss.
Game two saw the Spartans take a 4-0 lead before Queens pushed three runs across in the third. Peter Caravousanos led off with a base hit. Paparella walked and Joe Morris reached on a fielder's choice. With the bases loaded, Kolesar got the only hit of the inning, an RBI single that scored Paparella. Diego Gonzalez followed with a bunt that scored Morries. The third run came home on a wild pitch. STAC won 10-3
Cameron Burt fell to 3-2 on the year with the loss. He struck out six in 5.1 innings.
These two teams conclude their series with a doubleheader on Sunday, April 12. The first pitch is slated for 10:00 AM.
