Kevin Kolesar Drives in a Pair in a Loss to Bridgeport

Flushing, N.Y. - The Queens College baseball team lost the final game of a four-game-series with Bridgeport, 5-3, on Monday from the baseball field in Flushing.  Kevin Kolesar had two hits and drove in a pair in the defeat.

 

The Purple Knights scored a run in the top of the first and the Knights answered in their half.  Thomas Parish led off with a single.  He moved to second on a passed ball.  Later in the inning, Kolesar picked up his first RBI with a game-tying single that scored Parish.

 

Two innings later Bridgeport scored another run to take a 2-1 lead.  Queens scored a pair in the bottom of the third to take a 3-2 lead.  Matt Dawkins led off with a base hit and moved to second on a ground out.  He scored on Kolesar's second hit of the game.  Kolesar stole second and moved to third on a ground out.  He scored on an RBI single by Joseph Paparella.

 

Bridgeport scored a run each in the fourth, fifth and seventh to go on to win 5-3.  Michael Lamneck pitched 6.1 innings and was tagged with the loss.  Francesco Monastra and Dan Wlash combined to blank the Purple Knights in relief.

 

The Queens College baseball team returns to action on Tuesday, March 31 when they face Wilmington on the road.  The first pitch is slated for 3:00 PM.
