Box Score Flushing, N.Y. - The Queens College baseball team saw its three-game-winning streak come to an end on Tuesday as the team fell to Dominican, 3-1. Despite getting tagged with the loss, freshman, Michael Lamneck pitched six strong innings, where he fanned seven batters and allowed two runs in six innings of work.
Matt Dawkins got around to third base in the first inning when he hit a line drive into left center that was dropped for an error. He was stranded at third.
In the second and trailing 1-0, the Knights got another runner into scoring position. Karl Klesin led off the frame with a walk. He moved to second on a passed ball and advanced to third on a groundout. Klesin was later thrown at the plate to keep the Chargers ahead, 1-0.
The Knights got another runner in scoring position in the fifth. Trailng 2-0, James Donohue wored a walk. He moved to second on a passed ball and got to third by tagging on a fly out. He would be left at third.
The QC bullpen saw Francesco Monastra and Greg Gonzalez toss three combined innings and yield just one unearned run. Queens got on the board in the eighth.
Behind 3-0, Kevin Kolesar and Klesin were each hit by a pitch. Later in the inning, Anthony Nunez ripped an RBI single to left that scored Kolesar. It was the first RBI of the season for Nunez. The Chargers held on for a 3-1 win.
In the game, Nunez and Nick Morici had two hits each. In Lamneck's six innings of work, he fanned seven and walked just one.
The Queens College baseball team returns to action on Friday, March 27 when they travel to Bridgeport, Connecticut for a game at 3:00 PM.
