Box Score 2 Flushing, N.Y. - The Queens College baseball team lost both ends of a doubleheader to St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday in Flushing. STAC took the opener, 6-2 and won the second game, 9-1.
The first game saw Jonathan Russell take the mound for the Knights and he was effective early. He gave up two runs in the third and another in the seventh, but he kept Queens in the game, as the score was 3-0 when he left. QC got both of its runs in the eigth inning as the red-hot Lebro Burnette tripled into the right field corner. Joe Morris, who reached on a fielder's choice, came in on the hit and Burnette scored on an overthrow to third base.
The Spartans added a run in the ninth and won 6-2. Burnette had two hits and Morris and Francesco Monastra each had one.
Game two saw the Knights lose, 9-1. They got two hits, one each from Burnette and Robert Roasrio. Burnette scored the lone QC run when he singled, stole second, moved to third on an error and scored on a balk. Craig Kelly pitched a scoreless inning of relief for the Knights.
The Queens College baseball team returns to action on Friday, April 25, when they face Molloy on the road. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
