Box Score Nyack, N.Y. - The Queens College baseball team defeated Nyack, 13-2 in a game played in Nyack, New York on Tuesday. The Knights clubbed 16 hits in the win.
Six different pitchers saw action for Queens, including starter Jonathan Russell, who earned his first win of the season after throwing two scoreless innings. Frank Kaplan also threw two scoreless innings, while John Dondero, Crissandry Javier, Jonathan Ramos and Joseph Broderick all took the mound for the Knights.
Offensively, Nick Osburn and Dan Walsh each led QC with three hits. The pair also combined to drive in seven runs.
Queens jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on three singles from David Velazquez, Osburn and Francesco Monastra. RBI singles from Walsh and Lenny Torres in the third pushed the Knights' advantage to 4-0.
QC scored four times in the fourth on three unearned runs and an RBI base hit from C.J. Gerdowsky. The Knights led 8-0 until the Warriors pushed a run across in the sixth.
Queens scored three times in the seventh getting RBIs from Walsh (on a double), Osburn (a single) and Gerdowsky (a ground out). They scored twice more in the eight on a two-RBI single from Walsh and won 13-2.
The Knights are 6-6 heading into the weekend series with Bridgeport. The team hosts the Purple Knights on Friday, April 4, at 3:00 PM.
