Joseph Pidito Scores a Run and Drives in a Run in a 4-2 Setback to Dominican

Box Score

The Queens College baseball team dropped a tough game, 4-2, to Dominican College on Thursday in Flushing.  Joseph Pidito accounted for both of the Queens runs.

The Knights seemingly wasted a strong effort from Brandon Burrell, who threw six innings of one-hit baseball.  He allowed two unearned runs and struck out seven.

Queens took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning as Pidito laced a two-out single up the middle.  Stefan Sahagun followed with another single, pushing Pidito to third.  He then came in when Joseph Paparella ripped an infield single into the hole at short.

The Chargers took the lead with a pair of unearned runs in the sixth.  Both of the runs came on just one Dominican hit, a single.  The Chargers added two more runs in the seventh and took a 4-1 lead into the eighth.

Lebro Burnette led off the eighth with a double over the centerfielder's head.  He advanced to third on a passed ball.  Nick Osburn walked and stole second and the Knights had the tying run at the plate with no outs.  From there, Pidito drove in Burnette on an RBI groundout.  The Knights didn't score again and Dominican won 4-2.

The Queens College baseball team returns to action on Saturday, March 29, when they host Bloomfield in a doubleheader.  The first pitch with the Deacons is slated for noon.
