Box Score 2 Flushing, N.Y. (March 30, 2013) - The Queens
College baseball team carried momentum from Thursday's
come-from-behind victory over ECC opponent Mercy College into this
afternoon's twinbill against the Mavericks. Game one went the
Knights way 5-1. Game two also went to QC by the score of 4-0. With

Game
1:
In game one, freshman starter John Dondero (East Islip,
N.Y./East Islip) took the mound for the Knights and earned his
first victory of the season. Dondero (1-1) went the full seven
innings and allowed just one run (earned) on five hits. He retired
four via the strikeout and didn't allow a base on balls.
The Knights offense backed their pitcher up, using a four-run
fifth to pull ahead for the victory. After the Mercy College
Mavericks scored in the top of the first, the Knights tied the game
up in the 4th with an RBI double to left by Steven
Varela, scoring Nick LoBello. In the fifth, RBI singles by Joe
Salinitri, Warren Kelly and Lobello pushed three of the four runs
in the inning. The other run occurred after a wild pitch by Mercy
reliever Christian Hock scored Salinitri. All of
Queens's runs goes on the pitching line of Mavericks game one
starter James Patterson, who surrendered all five runs (all earned)
on seven hits.
The win gave the Knights their fourth of the season in ECC
play.

his first win of the season in a complete game for the Knights.

Offensively, the Knights gave Kaplan the run support. The game

rapped a double to left center, plating Frank Duffy for
Queens's first run of game two. They would add one more in
the frame when Kelly walked with the bases loaded, scoring Muller.
QC would add runs in the bottom of the fourth and sixth.
Mercy's game two starter Nick Caruso suffered his third loss
of the season, giving up three runs (all earned) on five hits.
The win put Queens at 5-2 in Conference play.
The Knights return to action on Monday, April 1st when they
conclude the four game set against Mercy College on the road in
