POMONA, N.Y. - Warren Kelly (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 with a walk and run scored Sunday afternoon at Provident Bank Park, as the Queens College baseball team dropped an 11-2, East Coast Conference decision to conference champion St. Thomas Aquinas College.
Kelly reached base with a leadoff single in the top of the seventh inning, and came around to score three batters later on an infield error.
Queens also scored one run in the top of the eighth frame, when junior Steven Varela (Glendale, N.Y.) reached on a one-out walk and crossed the dish on classmate Rob Bernardo's (Staten Island, N.Y.) fielder's choice.
Junior Anthony Mazzella (Wantagh, N.Y.) and freshman Nick LoBello (Baldwin, N.Y.) each had one hit for the Knights, who will wrap up their campaign with a doubleheader against the Spartans at Provident Bank Park Monday night. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m., and the Knights will honor five seniors as part of Senior Night ceremonies before the contest.
