Gerdowsky (Brooklyn, N.Y.) notched two hits apiece in the opening contest of Sunday afternoon's baseball doubleheader between host Queens College and Dominican College. The visiting Chargers won both ends of the twinbill, picking up a 10-1 decision in the opener and a 3-1 victory in the nightcap.

Game 1: Dominican 10, Queens 1

Mazzella and Gerdowsky each went 2-for-3 for the host Knights, who picked up their lone run in the seventh inning when sophomore Mike Shada (Holtsville, N.Y.) lofted a sacrifice fly to plate junior Warren Kelly (New Hyde Park, N.Y.; 1-for-3).

Game 2: Dominican 3, Queens 1

Freshman John Eyerman (Merrick, N.Y.) picked up the lone QC hit in the fifth inning, when he drove home classmate Alphonse Gentile (W. Hempstead, N.Y.) with the Knights' run.

Senior left-handed pitcher Kyle Contino (Ozone Park, N.Y.) went the distance on the hill for Queens, scattering four hits and six walks while striking out four.

Head coach Tom Sowinski's Knights are back in action Tuesday afternoon, when they play host to Caldwell College at Ray Metski Field in a 3 p.m. non-conference tilt.
