COLONIA, N.J. – In the East Coast Conference's eleventh weekly report of the season, three members of the Queens College baseball team earned conference honors Monday afternoon.
Junior
Michael Vilardi (Massapequa, N.Y.) was named Pitcher of the Week, while the senior duo of
Vincent Mallon (Massapequa, N.Y.) and
Johnny Dezago (Howard Beach, N.Y.) both named to the Honor Roll.
Pitcher of the Week
For the second time in three week, Vilardi has earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
Vilardi contributed on both sides of a four-game ECC series split. In Friday's 8-2 victory, Vilardi threw his second complete game of the season and the first nine-inning outing of his career, limiting the Saints to five hits and two unearned runs while issuing three walks and striking out one batter. After D'Youville scored two unearned runs in the first, Vilardi retired eight consecutive batters and worked out of trouble in the fourth to preserve a one-run lead before Queens pulled away. In Sunday's doubleheader, the Massapequa native batted .333 with a .333 on-base percentage and .556 slugging percentage, recording three hits, including two doubles, while scoring one run and driving in three RBIs.
Honor Roll
Mallon has now appeared on the weekly report for the sixth consecutive week, earning another Honor Roll spot.
In a key four-game ECC series split, Mallon batted .333 with a .579 on-base percentage and .583 slugging percentage. He tallied four hits, including one home run, while driving in three runs, scoring five times, and drawing six walks against D'Youville. On Sunday, Mallon recorded a team-leading 17th multi-hit game and 10th multi-RBI game of the season, finishing with four hits, four runs scored, and three RBIs across the doubleheader. In the Game Four victory, he launched his team-leading 11th home run of the year, becoming the first Queens College player since the 1998 season to reach 11 home runs in a single season.
Honor Roll
For the second straight week, Dezago has earned a spot on the weekly report sheet, earning his first Honor Roll selection.
In relief, senior
Johnny Dezago matched a season-best with 5.0 innings pitched, holding the Saints to three hits, two runs, and two walks while tying a season-high with six strikeouts to earn his third win of the year. Dezago delivered two clean innings during his outing as the Knights rallied for an 11-6 victory to keep their postseason hopes alive.

Queens returns to action on Thursday, April 30, opening its final ECC series of the season on the road against regionally ranked Mercy University in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
