FLUSHING, N.Y. – For the second straight week Mother Nature has shifted an East Coast Conference four-game series into two doubleheaders for the Queens College baseball team.
The Knights will now travel to Dobbs Ferry for a Friday (Mar. 29) afternoon doubleheader with two nine-inning games against the Mavericks of Mercy University. Both teams will conclude the four-game series in Flushing with a Saturday (Mar. 30) afternoon nine and seven-inning games at Hennekens Stadium
In the recent National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association
(NCBWA) East Region Week Six poll, the Knights are ranked 5th in the region as they received 54 points. Earlier in the year, the Knights received votes in the National Poll for the first time since 1998.

- Head coach Chris Reardon and the Knights enter the week with an overall record of 12-9 and 3-1 ECC play. Queens is coming off earning a 3-1 ECC series victory over Lincoln. While on Tuesday the Knights fell to #17 East Stroudsburg in a 6-5 walk-off.
- Sophomore right fielder Jorsixt Jimenez (Flushing, N.Y.) leads the offense averaging a team-high .392 BA, 1.120 OPS%, .658 SLG% with 31 hits, seven doubles, one triple, four home runs, 21 runs scored to go with eight walks and nine stolen bases.
- Jimenez has recorded 10 (7 (2), 2 (3), 1 (3)) multi-hit games to go with nine (6 (2), 2 (3), 1 (4)) multi-RBI games on the year.
- On Monday (Mar. 25) Jimenez earned a spot on the ECC Weekly Report Sheet for the third time.

- Junior third baseman Robert Jacobsen (Temecula, CA.) holds a batting average of .391, .972 OPS%, .478 SLG% with 27 hits, six doubles, 11 RBI, 10 walks, and 12 runs scored.
- Jacobsen has recorded 10 (7 (2), 2 (3), 1 (3)) multi-hit games and three (2) multi-RBI games on the year.
- On March 8 against Goldey-Beacom Jacobsen recorded a season-best four hits with two doubles, two runs scored and a RBI in the 12-11 comeback victory.
- On the mound, freshman righty Michael Vilardi (Massapequa, N.Y.) leads the Knights with three wins having pitched 17.0 innings while allowing 17 hits, six earned runs, eight walks, and 13 strikeouts.
- While the trio of freshman Peter Nenadich III (Bayside, N.Y.), senior righty Danny Gargano (Middle Island, N.Y.), and junior righty Nick Kozerski (Hicksville, N.Y.) have combined for six wins with Gargano and Kozerski combining for four saves on the year.
- Nenadich III has been named ECC Rookie of the Week (Feb. 26) and earned a Honor Roll spot on March 11.

- Mercy enters the week with an overall record of 12-12 and 3-1 in conference play. The Mavericks are coming off a 3-1 ECC series victory over Staten Island over the weekend.
- The Knights lead the overall series 46-33-1 as they are 27-14-1 in Flushing and 17-19 in Dobbs Ferry. Last season both sides earned a 2-2 series split with the Knights earning their first victory in Dobbs Ferry in conference play since the 2017 season.
- Zach Ashline leads the offense with a .318 batting average with 27 hits, four doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 26 RBI, 14 walks, and 22 runs scored.
- While Gabe Sanders is batting .290 with 20 hits, seven doubles, two triples, 11 RBI, 12 walks, and 13 runs scored.
- The duo of Jack Sullivan and Nevin Scaperotti have combined for six wins in 43.2 innings allowing 37 hits, 12 earned runs, 24 walks, and 21 strikeouts.
Next Pitch
Queens opens April in Flushing on Tuesday (Apr. 2) afternoon in non-conference play as they welcome the Cougars of Caldwell University to town to conclude the two-game series. Queens earned a 6-3 comeback victory back on Mar. 19 against the Cougars.
