FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College baseball team continues non-conference play to open the week before East Coast Conference play opens in Flushing in a four-game series.
The week opens in Caldwell, N.J. as the Knights match up against the Caldwell University Cougars on Tuesday (Mar. 19) afternoon before conference play with a four-game series against the Lions of Lincoln University Lions (PA.) from Friday (Mar. 22) afternoon to Sunday (Mar. 24) afternoon.
In the recent National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association
(NCBWA) East Region Week Five poll, the Knights are ranked 6th in the region as they received 44 points. Earlier in the year, the Knights received votes in the National Poll for the first time since 1998.
Scouting the Knights (8-7 Overall Record) | Regionally Ranked #6 (NCBWA)
- Head coach Chris Reardon and the Knights enter the week with an overall record of 8-7 and are coming off a 2-3 week which saw them earn a four-game non-conference series against Assumption over the weekend.
- Junior third basemen Robert Jacobsen (Temecula, CA) leads the Knights with a team-high .391 batting average with 18 hits, a team-high five doubles, nine RBI, six walks, and eight runs scored.
- Jacobsen leads the offense with seven multi-hit games and has recorded three multi-RBI games.
- On March 8 against Goldey-Beacom Jacobsen recorded a season-best four hits with two doubles, two runs scored and a RBI in the 12-11 comeback victory.
- The Temecula native has recorded three multi-RBI games with two RBI performances against Southern New Hampshire (Feb. 23) and Assumption DH (Mar. 17).
- Sophomore right fielder Jorsixt Jimenez (Flushing, N.Y.) has found his rhythm holding a batting average of .382 with a team-high 21 hits, 19 RBI, three home runs with two doubles, 13 runs scored, and six walks.
- On Monday (Feb. 26) Jimenez earned his first East Coast Conference Honor Roll spot in the second weekly report sheet.
- On Monday (Mar. 18) Jimenez was named ECC Player of the Week for the first time.
- On the mound, rookies righty Peter Nenadich III (Bayside, N.Y.) and righty Michael Vilardi (Massapequa, N.Y.) lead the Knights with two wins each on the year having combined for 27 innings allowing 29 hits, 15 earned runs, and 24 strikeouts.
- Nenadich III has been named ECC Rookie of the Week (Feb. 26) and earned a Honor Roll spot on March 11.

- Sean Brown leads the offense with a team-high batting average of .353 with six hits, one double, one triple, three RBI, three runs scored, and two walks.
- While Michael Cruz holds a .333 batting average with a team-high nine hits, three runs scored, four walks, and one RBI.
- Brandon Scalisi has recorded the lone win for the Cougars in the 8-7 victory over Staten Island on March 8.

- Miguel Agramonte holds a batting average of .355 with 11 hits, three doubles, one home run, and a team-high nine RBI with five runs scored and three walks.
- Dennis Flores leads the Lions with a 2-1 record on the mound in 18.2 IP allowing 25 hits, 12 earned runs, eight walks, and 12 strikeouts.
