INDIANAPOLIS, IN. – For the first time in 25 years, there will be more postseason baseball being played by the Queens College Baseball team.
On Saturday (May. 13) evening, head coach
Chris Reardon and the Queens College Knights earned the East Coast Conference automatic qualification into the 2023 NCAA Baseball Championship.
But on Sunday (May. 14) evening, the Knights would find out where their next game of the season would take place as they heard their name called around roughly 11:15 p.m. that they would be headed to Newark, Delaware by earning the #6 seed to the NCAA East Regional Tournament Bracket #2.
Queens College was one of 22 conference teams in Division II to earn the automatic qualifier and they would earn the bid by not only forcing the if necessary game of the ECC Baseball Championship, but it would come in walk-off fashion in extra innings as ECC Rookie of the Year
Jorsixt Jimenez (Queens, N.Y.) scored the winning run in the bottom of the tenth inning as the Knights dethroned two-time defending champions Molloy University Lions in Uniondale.
The NCAA East Regional Bracket #2 will be hosted by #2 Goldey-Beacom College Lightning who earned the At-Large bid to the Championship Tournament.
Also joining the Knights and Lightning will be #3 seed Le Moyne College Dolphins who earned the At-Large bid and #7 Felician University Golden Falcons.
The Double-Elimination tournament gets under on Thursday (May. 18) afternoon as the Reardon and squad match up against the Dolphins in the opening game of the bracket. All games of the regionals will take place on the campus of the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware at Bob Hannah Stadium.

Game seven: Championship Round, TBD (if necessary -- if game five winner wins game six)
* There will be a minimum of 50 minutes in between games.
The Knights will be matching up against the Dolphins for the first time since the 2018 season when they matched up against future Major League Baseball pitcher Josiah Gray in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
While the Knights have matched up against the Lightning and the Golden Falcons this season and hold a 4-2 record overall record.
On the other side of the bracket, Southern New Hampshire University has earned the #1 seed and they will host #4 seed Franklin Pierce University and #5 Pace University.
The winner of each double-elimination regional will advance to the Best-of-Three East Super Regional which will be hosted by the highest remaining seed from May 26 – May 27.
The Super Regional Champion will earn the right to compete for a National Championship at the NCAA Division II World Series which will take place at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina from June 3-10.
