FLUSHING, N.Y. – Coming off a 12-3 victory in non-conference play over Caldwell University, the Queens College baseball team returns to East Coast Conference play with a four-game series against the Lions of Molloy University.
The Knights open the series in Uniondale on Thursday (Apr. 6) afternoon before attention shifts to Flushing with a doubleheader on Saturday (Apr. 8) afternoon. The series concludes on the road on Monday (Apr. 10) afternoon.
Scouting the Knights (Overall Record: 18-6, 3-1 ECC)
The Knights are coming off a 12-3 victory over Caldwell in non-conference play on Tuesday afternoon.
In the recent NCBWA East Regional, Queens remain at the eighth spot having earned 30 points.
Following strong performances, freshman
Jorsixt Jimenez (Queens, N.Y.) was awarded ECC Rookie of the Week, while sophomore
Marc Cisco (Long Island City, N.Y.) and senior
Reed Hoskins (Freeport, N.Y.) earned Honor Roll spots for their performances.
Over five games, Jimenez batted .333 with a slugging % of .889 as he tallied six hits, one double, three home runs, 11 RBI, and six runs scored to go with three walks. The rookie tallied a two-RBI double as Queens erased a 10-run deficit to win 14-12 over Felician. In the series-clinching victory, Jimenez went 4-4 AB with a slugging % of 3.250 with three home runs and a program record eight RBI to lead the Knights to a 17-10 victory over SCSU Sunday afternoon.
While Cisco batted .500 with a slugging % of 1.125 with eight hits, two doubles, one triple, two home runs, eight RBI, and seven walks and combined for six double plays. The sophomore tallied three straight multi-hit games against regional-ranked SCSU going 6-9 at the plate with five runs scored, two doubles, one triple, a home run, and six RBI.
Hoskins batted a scorching .529 with a slugging % of 1.176 with nine hits, three doubles, one triple, two home runs, eight RBI, and nine runs scored with five walks. In the comeback victory over Felician, Hoskins led the charge with a two RBI home run as Queens erased a 10-run deficit to win 14-12. Against regional-ranked SCSU, the senior became the Knight to hit for the cycle going 5-5 AB with two doubles, a triple, a home run, three RBI, and four runs scored as the Knights earned a 2-1 series victory Sunday afternoon.

Matt Filip (Maspeth, N.Y.) (2-5 AB, 2B, 5RBI), Jimenez
(3-4 AB, 2B, HR, 3RBI, 3R, BB) and senior
Anthony Fontana (Wantagh, N.Y.) (2-4 AB, 2 2B, 2RBI, 2R) as the trio combined for 10 RBI in the victory.
Pitching in relief, rookie
Ben Nosovitch (Carle Place, N.Y.) earned his first career win pitching a career-high 4.0 innings allowing two hits with a strikeout.
As a team, the Knights are batting .317 with 245 hits, 171 RBI, 185 runs scored, and 128 walks in 773 At-Bats.
Leading the Way
- Fontana leads the way with a team-high batting average of .425 with 34 hits, 19 runs scored, six doubles, one triple, four home runs, and 24 RBI.
- Fontana has tallied 11 multi-hit games with four three-hit games and with the latest one coming against Felician (Mar. 30)
- Junior Francis Segarra (Bronxville, N.Y.) is batting .394 with a team-high 39 hits, 29 runs scored, three doubles, two triples, three home runs, and 23 RBI.
- Segarra has tallied a team-high 13 multi-hit games including three four-hit games with the latest one coming against Caldwell (Apr. 4)
- The junior has tallied six multi-RBI games including a career-best five RBI against Chestnut Hill (Feb. 26)
- Hoskins is batting .358 with 24 hits, five doubles, and a team-high five home runs, with 23 RBI and 19 runs scored.
- The senior has tallied five multi-hit games on the season with one five-hit performance.
- The Freeport native became the first Knight to hit for the cycle in game two of the SCSU (Apr. 2) series (5-5 AB, 2B, 3B, HR, 3RBI)
- Jimenez is batting .355 with 27 hits, six doubles, one triple, four home runs, 18 runs scored, and a team-high 30 RBI.
- Jimenez has eight multi-hit games to go with a career-high four-hit performance against SCSU (Apr.2) as he recorded three home runs and eight RBI.
- Cisco is batting .346 with 27 hits, 26 runs scored, six doubles, one triple, two home runs, and 15 RBI.
- The sophomore has tallied eight multi-hit games with two three-hit performances and five multi-RBI games on the season.
- On the mound, junior Jordan Sanabria (Woodside, N.Y.) leads the team with four wins, while senior Dean Fazah (Queens, N.Y.) has tallied three wins.
- Junior Danny Gargano (Middle Island, N.Y.) leads the Knights and the conference with sixth saves on the season.

Molloy enters the week with an overall record of 19-10 and 7-1 in conference play and are on a three-game winning having defeated College of Staten Island to earn the conference series victory.
In the recent NCBWA East Region poll, the Lions are ranked sixth.
The Knights are looking to end a nine-game losing streak to the Lions with the last win coming during the 2019 season. The Knights earned a series split winning at home on April 12 before splitting a doubleheader in Uniondale.
As a team, the Lions are batting .308 with 311 hits, 208 RBI, 230 runs scored, and 118 walks in 1009 At-Bats.
JJ DeVito leads the team with a team-high batting average of .373 with 31 hits, seven doubles, two triples, three home runs, 18 RBI, and 27 runs scored. While Jake McCarthy is batting .306 with 33 hits, eight doubles, two home runs, 20 runs scored, and a team-high 26 RBI.
Mike Andreoli leads the team with five wins on the season.
