FLUSHING, N.Y. – It is non-conference play to open the week for the Queens College baseball team as the Knights conclude two series beginning on Tuesday (Apr. 25) afternoon as the Panthers of Adelphi University come to town.
On Wednesday (Apr. 26) afternoon the Knights travel to Wilmington, Del. for their lone road game of the week as they match up against the Wildcats of Wilmington University.
Scouting the Knights (Overall Record: 26-11)
The Knights are coming off a 2-2 East Coast Conference series split against the Mavericks of Mercy College.
In the recent NCBWA East Regional poll, Queens stayed at the seventh spot earning 32 points.
Continuing his impressive start, freshman
Jorsixt Jimenez (Queens, N.Y.) was awarded his fourth straight ECC Rookie of the Week honors on Monday (Apr. 24) afternoon.
Jimenez has tied teammate sophomore
Marc Cisco (Long Island City, N.Y.) who earned four Rookie of the Week honors during his freshman campaign last season.
Jimenez continued to keep his bat hot as he recorded a batting average of .556 with .944 slugging % with 10 hits, one double, two home runs, seven RBI, seven runs scored, one walk, and one stolen base in the four-game series against Mercy. The rookie recorded three multi-hit games with two four-hit games to lead the Knights' offense to run his tally to 16 multi-hit and 13 multi-RBI games on the season.
As a team, the Knights are batting .323 with 393 hits, 258 RBI, 282 runs scored, and have earned 197 walks in 1217 At-Bats.
Leading the Way
- Rookie Jimenez is leading the team batting .408 with 53 hits, 11 doubles, one triple, six home runs, 34 runs scored, and a team-high 48 RBI.
- Jimenez has 16 multi-hit games to go with a four four-hit performance with the most recent one coming against Mercy (Apr. 23).
- The Queens native has recorded a team-high 13 multi-RBI games on the game having recorded seven (2RBI), 4 (3RBI), one (4RBI), and one (5RBI) games on the year.
- Senior Anthony Fontana (Wantagh, N.Y.) is batting .395 with 47 hits, 26 runs scored, 11 doubles, one triple, six home runs, and 39 RBI.
- Fontana has tallied 15 multi-hit games with six three-hit games and with the latest one coming against Lincoln (Apr. 15).
- Cisco is batting .367 with 44 hits, 44 runs scored, nine doubles, two triples, three home runs, and 21 RBI.
- The sophomore has tallied 12 multi-hit games with four three-hit performances and seven multi-RBI games on the season.
- Senior Reed Hoskins (Freeport, N.Y.) is batting .325 with 37 hits, six doubles, and five home runs, with 27 RBI and 25 runs scored.
- The senior has tallied nine multi-hit games on the season with one five-hit performance.
- The Freeport native became the first Knight to hit for the cycle in game two of the SCSU (Apr. 2) series (5-5 AB, 2B, 3B, HR, 3RBI).
- On the mound, junior Jordan Sanabria (Woodside, N.Y.) leads the team with five wins, while senior Dean Fazah (Queens, N.Y.) and freshman Christopher Naronis (Floral Park, N.Y.) have combined for eight wins.
- Junior Danny Gargano (Middle Island, N.Y.) leads the Knights and the conference with nine saves on the season.

Tuesday's game against the Panthers will be the first home against their Garden City foe since the 2017 season when the Knights earned a doubleheader split with a 4-3 victory.
Alec Maag leads the team batting .394 with 37 hits, 11 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 19 RBI, and 20 runs scored. While Kyle Olson is batting .339 with 40 hits, seven doubles, three triples, two home runs, a team-high 29 RBI, and 31 runs scored.
Brendan Kenneally leads the team with four wins on the mound.

Wednesday's game in Wilmington will be the first road game since the 2016 season which saw the Knights win 4-2 over the Wildcats. On the road, Queens holds a 1-1 record against their non-conference foe.

Jack McDonald is batting .390 with 39 hits, six doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 30 runs scored, and 33 RBI. While Nick Nocella holds a batting average of .388 with 40 hits, seven doubles, one triple, six home runs, 21 runs scored, and 30 RBI.
