Baseball Begins ECC Postseason Play Thursday Afternoon

FLUSHING, N.Y. – After being voted fifth in the East Coast Conference Preseason Poll, the Queens College baseball team led by head coach Chris Reardon and the Knights are headed back to postseason play for the third straight season. 
 
The Knights finished the regular season with an overall record of 24-15, 15-6 in ECC Play and earned the #2 seed in the ECC Baseball Tournament. It is the highest finish in program history since the 1998 season
 
Queens is led by Reardon who was named Co-Coach of the year, and freshman Marc Cisco (Long Island City, N.Y.) who was named the league's first Player and Rookie of the Year on Wednesday (May. 11) afternoon. The Knights earned a program-best six All-Conference honors in Cisco, senior third baseman Louis Antos (West Islip, N.Y), sophomore Utility Colin Diez (Levittown, N.Y.), graduate student starting pitcher Julien Arcos (Glenwood, N.Y.) earning First-Team honors. While freshman first baseman Matt Filip (Maspeth, N.Y.) and junior outfielder Jayson Rodopoulos (Scarsdale, N.Y.) earned Second-Team All-Conference honors

Throughout the season, the Knights faced stern competition which saw the team over a scoring drought, tally a season-high nine-game win streak, and post two extra innings wins en route to a 24-15 regular season finish. In conference play, the Knights posted a 15-6 record, the most conference wins in a season since the 1998 season. 
 
Queens is searching for the first conference title in 24 years when they defeated Dowling College 12-4 in 1998. 
 
East Coast Conference Tournament Outlook
Defending champions Molloy College Lions earned the #1 seed as the regular season champions as they finished the regular season with a record of 32-11, 16-2 in ECC play. They are led by ECC Pitcher of the Year Charlie Cucchiara. 
 
The Lions swept the Knights 3-0 during the regular season.
 
Mercy College Mavericks will be the Knights' first opponent as the tournament gets underway Thursday (May. 12) afternoon. The Mavericks will be the #3 seed in the tournament as they finished the regular season with an overall record of 21-23-1, and 14-7 in conference play. 
 
Queens won the regular season series 2-1 with both wins coming in Flushing including the #2 seed clincher on the last day of the regular season. 
 
St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans earned the fourth seed with a 3-0 series sweep over Bridgeport. The Spartans finished the regular season with an overall record of 22-21 and 14-7 in conference play. 
 
The Knights defeated the Spartans 2-1 in the three-game series as the Knights won in Flushing and earned a doubleheader split in Ponoma.

10:00 a.m. - Loser Game One vs. Loser Game Two
1:00 p.m. - Winner Game One vs. Winner Game Two
4:00 p.m. - Winner Game Three vs. Loser Game Four

Saturday, May 14
Noon - Winner Game Four vs. Winner Game Five
If necessary - 30 minutes after the completion of Game Six
