Baseball welcomes Jefferson in Non-Conference Action Tuesday Afternoon

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College baseball team returns to non-conference play as they host Jefferson University Rams Tuesday (Apr. 19) afternoon.

Jefferson Series History
In 40 games played, the Knights are 17-23 overall against their former conference foes and are on a six-game losing skid to the Rams. The first meeting took place during the 1992 season. In Flushing, Queens holds an 8-9 record and will be looking to earn their win over Jefferson since the 2003 season. 
 
The last win in Flushing came on April 29, 2001, which saw the Knights shut out the Rams to the score of 11-0. 
 
Scouting the Knights
 
Queens (18-10 overall) saw their nine-game win streak come to an end as they earned an East Coast Conference doubleheader split against St. Thomas Aquinas College Saturday evening.
 
The Knights moved up to the eighth spot in the NCBWA poll released on Monday afternoon.  
 
As a team, the Knights are batting .294, .868 OPS, and .459 slugging % with 270 hits, 165 RBIs, 26 home runs, and are 37-41 in stolen bases attempts. 
 
Senior Louis Antos (West Islip, N.Y.) leads the offense batting .479 with OPS of 1.340, .792 slugging % with 46 hits, 12 doubles, six home runs, and 27 RBIs. Antos has been named East Coast Conference Player of the week three times and twice NCBWA East Regional Player of the Week. 
 
While freshman Marc Cisco (Long Island City, N.Y.) was named ECC Rookie of the Week for the third consecutive week and fourth time this season on Monday afternoon. 
 
Cisco tallied four multi-hit games on the week including two three-hit performances against STAC in ECC play. For the third straight week, Cisco took his batting performance to a whole new level batting 10-for-18 with three doubles, a triple, driving in eight runs, six runs scored, and three walks as he held a .556 batting average with a .619 on-base percentage and .844 slugging percentage. Cisco drove in six runs on eights hits to help the Knights earn their first conference series victory over STAC since the 2004 season and improved to 11-1 in ECC play.
 
While Cisco is batting .4 51 with a 1.204 OPS, .676 slugging % with 46 hits, seven doubles, two triples, four home runs, and 28 RBIs. 

Scouting the Rams
 
Jefferson (19-16 overall) enters Queens on a two-game win streak having swept Nyack in a CACC doubleheader last Wednesday.
 
As a team, the Rams are batting .298, .874 OPS, and .476 slugging % with 268 runs scored on 329 hits. 
 
The offense is led by Zack Austin batting .310 with 35 hits, eight doubles, four triples, and eight home runs. While Ryan Sawyer holds a .272 batting average with 34 hits, eight doubles, four triples, two home runs, and 27 RBIs.
 
Next Series
 
The Knights return to East Coast Conference play Friday (Apr. 22) afternoon as they open a three-game series in Bridgeport, Conn. The series will conclude in Flushing with a Saturday (Apr. 23) afternoon doubleheader. The first pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
