FLUSHING, N.Y.- The Queens College baseball team opens an 11-game homestand beginning with a four-game series against Bloomfield College Bears this weekend.
The series starts Saturday (Mar. 5) with two seven-inning games before concluding on Sunday (Mar. 6) at Hennekens Stadium.

Bloomfield Series History
Dating back to the 2007 season, the Knights are 11-6 overall against the Bears and will enter Saturday on a six-game win streak against them. Both sides are meeting for the first time since the 2019 season which saw the Knights sweep the Bears 4-0. Queens outscored Bloomfield 42-20 over the four games including three games of 11 runs or more.
At home, the Knights are 8-4 against the Bears including 6-0 in their last six meetings.
Scouting the Knights
Queens enter Saturday with a 3-1 overall record as they ended their Myrtle Beach trip with a three-game winning streak which included a sweep over Post University and concluded the trip with a victory over Felician University.
Following a 3-1 start, the Knights are ranked #7 in the NCBWA East Region Poll.
The Knights are led by junior outfielder
Jayson Rodopoulos (
Scarsdale, N.Y.) who opened the season on a strong note as he went 9-for-17, with five runs scored, one double, one triple, two home runs, seven RBI, a walk, and two stolen bases. In the season opener against Southern New Hampshire, he went 3-for-4 with four RBI and a home run. Against Felician, he fell short of the cycle as he went 3-for-6 AB two runs, a double, and a home run as the Knights won 17-9 to cap off the weekend.
He was awarded
East Coast Conference Player of the Week on Monday (Feb. 28) and on Wednesday (Mar. 2), the junior earned
NCBWA East Region Player of the Week honors.
While freshman
Marc Cisco (Long Island City, N.Y.) was awarded
ECC Rookie of the Week honors for his performance. The rookie batted. 500 with eight hits, two doubles, eight RBI, and earned two walks. The rookie went 3-for-5 with a double and a career-high four RBI in the victory over Post. He would match his season-best three hits while scoring three runs in the win against Felician.
Junior lefty
Dean Fazah (Queens, N.Y.) picked up where he left off last season as he earned his first win of the season with a strong 3.1 IP outing in the nightcap victory over Post University. Fazah would strike out seven batters allowing a hit, run, and zero walks in his appearance.
Scouting the Bears
Bloomfield comes to Flushing with a 1-3 record and is coming off a 12-8 loss to ECC foe Mercy College Wednesday afternoon.
Justin Rivera leads the offense batting .545, .909 slugging, .545 on-base percentage with six hits, two doubles, and a triple. While Luis Garcia and Tyree Bradley lead the Bears with a team-high four RBIs.
Justice Ramirez has earned the lone win on the young season for the Bears pitching a total of 5.0 innings allowing seven hits, five earned runs, six walks, and five strikeouts. In the victory over ECC foe Lincoln (Pa.), Ramirez went 4.0 IP allowing four hits, two earned runs, and struck out five batters to earn the win.
Next Game
On Tuesday (Mar. 8) the Knights will welcome Post University Eagles to Flushing for the first time since the 2003 season. First pitch set for 3:00 p.m.
