Baseball Opens Five-Game Homestand Thursday Afternoon

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College baseball team opens a five-game homestand Thursday (Mar. 31) afternoon in non-conference action against the Cougars of Caldwell University. 
 
The Knights will host Lincoln University (PA.) Lions for a three-game East Coast Conference series beginning with a single nine-game Friday (Apr. 1) afternoon before concluding Saturday (Apr. 2) afternoon with a doubleheader.

Caldwell Series History
Thursday meeting with the 22nd overall meeting against the Cougars with the Knights leading 11-10. Both sides first met back on March 21, 2005, as the Knights fell 3-0 at home. 
 
In the last 10 meetings, Queens is 9-1 against Caldwell as the Knights saw a 10-game win streak come to end last season as the Cougars earned an opening weekend split. 
 
Lincoln Series History
Queens is 7-0 against Lincoln with the first meeting coming on April 6, 2019. The Knights have outscored the Lions 91-24 in their seven meetings. It will be the first meeting in Flushing with all previous games hosted by Lincoln. 
 
Scouting the Knights
 
Queens (8-9 overall, 3-0 ECC) are coming off an 8-6 non-conference loss to Adelphi University Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Knights are receiving votes in the NCBWA East Region Poll. 
 
As a team, the Knights are batting .241, .721 OPS, .350 slugging % with 128 hits, 62 RBIs, 10 home runs, and are 24-25 in stolen bases attempts. 
 
Senior Louis Antos (West Islip, N.Y.) leads the offense batting .388 with an Ops of 1.128 with 19 hits, two doubles, three runs, and eight RBIs. Antos led the offense against the Panthers with his second three-hit and second multi-RBI game of the season as the West Islip native went 3-5 AB, 2RBIs. 
 
Junior centerfielder Jayson Rodopoulos (Scarsdale, N.Y.) is batting .382 with an OPS of 1.104 with 21 hits, nine RBIs, and 7-7 in stolen bases. 
 
On Mar. 28, Antos was named ECC Player of the Week for his performance. Antos is the second Knights player to be named Player of the Week after Rodopoulos earned the honors back on Feb. 28.
 
Scouting the Cougars
 
Caldwell (6-10 overall) enters the non-conference matchup having dropped 8-5 final to Felician University in CACC play. 
 
In 16 games, the Cougars are batting .283, .744 OBP, .392 slugging, and have tallied 70 runs on 135 hits. 
 
Jalen March leads the offense batting .357 with 20 hits, eight RBIs on the season, while Liam Lombardi is batting .340 with 18 hits and leads the team with 10 RBIs. 
 
Scouting the Lions
 
Lincoln (4-20 overall, 0-3 ECC) are on a 14-game skid and were swept by Molloy College last weekend as they opened conference play at home. 
 
As a team, the Lions are batting .205, .595 OPS, .264 slugging % with 100 runs scored on 135 hits. 
 
The offense is led by Jefry Azcona batting a team-high .259 with 21 hits, three doubles, and 11 RBIs. While CarVonte Williams is batting .246 with 15 hits, four doubles, and eight RBIs on the season. 
 
Next Series
 
The Knights will conclude the homestand in a non-conference matchup against Felician University on Wednesday (Apr. 6) afternoon. The first pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
