FLUSHING, N.Y. (Jan. 29, 2020) - In the final home meet of her career, senior Amanda Giordano of the Queens College swimming team won all three of her events to lead the Knights to victories over Maritime and St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn at the Dina Axelrad Perry Pool in Flushing, N.Y. on Wednesday (Jan. 29).

Queens topped Maritime by a 101-86 score and easily swam past St. Joseph's by a 115-56 margin.

Giordano took first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:23.33 while also winning the 100-yard free (1:03.59) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:20.77), the latter of which sealed the victory for the Knights over the Privateers of Maritime. Fellow senior Megan Dawes was victorious in the 500-yard freestyle (5:58.73) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:10.57) with senior Chelsy Espinosa clocking a winning time of 28.72 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle.

Newcomer Jelena Sanchez was a welcome addition for the Knights with a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:26.61. Sanchez also added a runner-up finish to Giordano in the 200-yard free (2:40.40) while Espinosa claimed second in the 100-free (1:05.19). Senior Brigitti Cruz ended her home career for the Knights with two runner-up placements in the 200-yard individual medley (2:40.85) and the 500-free (6:57.35) respectively.

The Knights will now compete on the weekend of Feb. 22-24 at the Metropolitan Conference Championship meet on the campus of Rutgers University.
