FLUSHING, N.Y. (Nov. 7, 2019) -
Megan Dawes was victorious for the Queens Colege women's swimming team in the 1000-yard freestyle as the Knights opened the 2019-20 season at their annual tri-meet with Baruch and Adelphi on Thursday (Nov. 7). Queens fell by a 139-47 score to Adelphi and lost to Baruch by a 96-85 margin at the Dina Perry Pool in Flushing.
Dawes posted a time of 12:07.37 time to best three other competitors, including Adelphi's Theresa Mattei (12:24.16) who finished the race in second place.
Gabriela Almeida was second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.43) to keep Queens in the competition early on in the meet and she also placed second (1:04.70) in the 100-yard butterfly. Dawes and
Amanda Giordano went 3-4 in the 100-yard freestyle with Dawes breaking the one-minute mark (58.99s) and Giordano clocking a 1:02.32.Â
Queens will host Kean and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Thursday (Nov. 14) at 5 p.m. at the Dina Perry Pool.
