Softball Swept At NYIT

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - The Queens College softball team dropped both ends of an East Coast Conference double header to NYIT Saturday afternoon on the road.  NYIT won game one 6-0, before taking the finale 9-0.

In the opener, NYIT was led by Laura McLaughlin, who notched a no-hitter and faced just one batter over the minimum for the Bears.  Sophomore Alyssa Neal reached base twice for the Knights, one via error and the other on a hit by pitch.

NYIT offensively was led by Madison Smith, who drove in four runs and collected two hits.  ToniMarie Valeriano took the loss in the circle, surrendering six runs, five earned, on eight hits with three strikeouts.

The Bears connected on two home runs in game two, off the bats of Kat Zabielski and Tiffany McCracken.  Meanwhile, Carly Wade held the Knights to two hits.

Lauren Pascual took the loss for QC, allowing nine runs, six earned, on eight hits over 4.0 frames.

The Knights visit Mercy Sunday afternoon.
