Box Score FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Queens College lacrosse team opened its 2016 home slate with a 13-9 victory over Nyack Saturday afternoon at QC Lacrosse Field.
Freshman Patriece Ausili (Ridge, N.Y.) led the Knights with seven points in the contest, coming off of five goals and two assists. Classmate Lauren Gentile (Deer Park, N.Y.) registered three goals, while sophomore Mary Pat Gibble (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) posted five points on two goals and three assists. Senior Krista Ancona (East Islip, N.Y.) made nine saves in net.
The Knights scored the game's first four goals, before a pair of Nyack tallies cut the lead in half. Ausili's third of the first half extended the lead to three at halftime. Queens took a 6-2 lead early in the second half. The Warriors responded with three in a row, narrowing the deficit to one with 20:14 remaining.
QC responded to the threat with four straight, including Gentile's trio of goals, to grab a 10-5 lead. Ausili's tally with 4:11 gave the Knights a 12-6 lead, before Nyack scored three of the game's final four goals.
Victoria Lopez-Nash led the Warriors with three goals, while Lauren Lebo had two tallies. Madeline Barbarino made five saves for Nyack. The Knights are back in action Thursday afternoon at Caldwell, N.J.
