FLUSHING, N.Y. (Apr. 13, 2019) - The Queens College women's lacrosse team honored its five graduating seniors Saturday (Apr. 13) before the Knights' home conference finale against Saint Thomas Aquinas at Knights Field. The celebrations would not continue throughout the contest, however, as STAC topped QC by an 18-6 final count.
Of the seniors that were recognized pregame,
Maggie Iavarone posted a two-goal game to lead Queens (2-12, 1-5 ECC) on offense.
Patriece Ausili won five draw controls and picked up two ground balls,
Lauren Gentile had an assist and two draw victories,
Lauren Hilke registered a shot on goal and a caused turnover and Cat Monteleone caused four turnovers in defensive midfield and also picked up a ground ball.
Chloe Herzog had two goals, three ground ball pickups and five caused turnovers while
Shannon Gibbons and
Sarah Koehler both registered a goal in the effort.
Jess Serpe had five ground ball pickups and nine saves in cage.
Kaitlyn Gutenberger and Gabrielle Di Fusco scored four goals apiece for the Spartans (7-7, 2-4 ECC) with Gutenberger achieving a seven-point game in total. Leanna Iobbi and Jennifer Farrell each had hat tricks in the win and Katie Feigenbaum made eight saves for STAC. The visitors scored 11 of the first 13 goals and took a 13-5 lead into the halftime break.
Queens will continue its season on the road Wednesday (Apr. 17) at NYIT with game time set for 4 p.m.
