Comeback Falls Just Shy as Women's Lacrosse Loses Season Finale to Post, 14-12

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Apr. 25, 2019) - Down 10-4 at the halftime break, the Queens College women's lacrosse team fought back through the rain and wind to get to within a 14-12 deficit against Post University on Thursday (Apr. 25) at Knights Field. Unforuntately, the home side would not get any closer and the 14-12 margin would be the final score as the Eagles spoiled the Knights' season finale in Flushing.

Patriece Ausili, Chloe Herzog and Sarah Koehler each produced a hat trick for Queens while Shannon Gibbons added a pair of goals as Lauren Gentile hit the back of the net once in the defeat. Ausili won nine of the team's 17 draw control victories with Koehler nabbing six as Herzog and Gentile scooped up a team-high four ground balls each. Nikki Pravata caused four turnovers on defense with Nicole Cutrone adding two caused turnovers in the effort and Jess Serpe managed six saves in cage for Queens.

Christina Badaracco posted 16 saves in net for Post while Morgan Cassiliano (five goals, six points) and Savannah Schwack (four goals, five points) took care of most of the offense for the Eagles in the win.

Herzog closed the first half with two goals in the final minute and Ausili opened the second half with a goal to bring Queens within a 10-5 deficit. After Cassiliano scored a pair of goals and Aolani Hermosura hit the back of the net to give the visitors a 14-6 lead (following markers by Schwack and Koehler), the Knights made their charge back into play. Koehler scored with just under 13 minutes remaining in regulation and would team with Gibbons to split QC's four markers in a row as the Knights were only down by a 14-10 margin with eight minutes to play. Gentile and Ausili brought Queens within a pair of goals with three minutes remaining, but the Knights ran out of time and could not keep momentum going as the clock expired.
