Softball Advances to ECC Championship with 5-1 Win Over LIU Post

Box Score

Flushing, N.Y. - The Queens College softball team continued to show its dominance over LIU Post as the team defeated the Pioneers, 5-1, in game three of the East Coast Conference Championship on Friday from the softball field in Flushing.  The Knights are now 4-1 in matchups with LIU Post this season.

Monqiue Roeberge left the outcome in little doubt as she slugged a pair of homeruns in the game, including a two-run shot to right after Cat Pastor led the game off with a walk.  The Pioneers got a run back in the bottom of the second and trailed 2-1 until the fourth.

QC scored three times in the fourth to put the game away for good.  Roberge led off the frame with a solo blast that went to the right of the bleachers in right field.  Samantha Mattsson reached on an error and moved to second on a stolen base.  She was sacrificed to third and scored on a Nicole Pirretti base hit.  Pastor capped the scoring with an RBI single.  The Knights went on to a 5-1 win.

Isabelle Yaroch tossed five strong innings to earn the win and raise her record to 10-2.  She allowed just an unearned run and fanned five.

The Queens College softball team is one win away from the ECC Championship.  They face the winner of the Molloy-LIU Post game that was suspended due to darkness on Friday.  The Knights need just one victory to claim the title.
