Box Score Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The Queens College softball team finished off its series sweep of Molloy with a 9-1 win, in six innings, in an East Coast Conference game played in Rockville Centre, New York, on Friday. Once again, it was the long ball that paced the Knights, as the team clobbered four homers in the game. Isabelle Yaroch pitched five innings to earn the win.
QC took a 2-0 led with runs in the first and secon. Cat Pastor led off the game with a solo shot and Kylie Spillett hit another in the second. Queens made it 3-0 in the fourth when Monique Roberge and Samantha Mattsson singled and Roberge scored on a Spillett sacrifice fly.
The Knights made the score 6-0 in the fifth when Roberge connected on a three-run blast. Alicia Gonzalez and Pastor came in on the homer. The Lions scored one in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 6-1 entering the sixth.
Kayla Morrissey laced a one-out double to right-center. Two batters later, Nicole Pirretti connected on the fourth homerun of the game and QC led 8-1. Pastor and Gonzalez followed with singles and ToniMari Valeriano drove in Pastor. Queens won 9-1 in six.
The Queens College softball team returns to action on Saturday, April 25, when they host Dowling for a doubleheader. The first pitch is slated for noon.
