Cambridge, Mass. - The Queens College men's tennis team dropped its first match of the 2015 season on Saturday, falling to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 5-4, in a match played on the campus of MIT. Sharvill Nawghre won at both singles and doubles for the Knights.
Queens dropped two out of three doubles match, the lone point comign from the victorious combo of Nawghre and Ryan Frankel, who disposed of their opponents, 8-5, in second doubles.
In singles play, the Knights won three of the six matches. Nawghre, playing second singles, prevailed in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (5). Lucas Martinez came out ahead at fourth singles, 7-5, 7-6. Finally, Gabriel Mendez won at fifth singles, 6-0, 6-7, 6-3.
Despite the loss, the team is still 4-1 on the season. They return to action on Wednesday, March 18, when they host Bloomfield at 1:00 PM.
