WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Continuing East Coast Conference play Saturday evening, the No. 28 Queens College men's tennis team traveled to Williamsville to take on the Daemen University Wildcats at the Miller Tennis Center.
The Knights delivered a dominant performance, sweeping all nine matches on the evening. Junior
Tim Andersson (Linkoping, Sweden) linched the victory at No. 2 singles.
With the win, Queens improves to 12-0 overall and 3-0 in ECC play. Under head coach
Somadi Druker, the Knights have set a new program record with 12 consecutive victories.
DOUBLES PLAY
The brotherly duo of senior
Lucas Foix Sotos (Javea, Spain) and sophomore
Jaime Foix Sotos (Javea, Spain) opened doubles action with a 6-1 victory over Pablo Viera and Jordan Hamdan at the No. 3 spot.
Queens secured the doubles point at No. 1 as senior
Alexis Martin-Gibiard (Saint-Remy-de-Provence, France) and sophomore
Adam Laur (Boulogne Billancourt, France) earned a 6-1 win over Lasse Mergens and Rohan Chitanand.
The Knights completed the doubles sweep at No. 2, where Andersson and sophomore
Samuel Linck (Haarlem, Netherlands) posted a 6-3 victory over Lucas Garcia and Mitch Pollack.
SINGLES PLAY
Opening singles play, junior
Caleb Brightman (Pawling, N.Y.) opened singles play with a straight-set shutout of Viera at No. 4. Sophomore
Jaime Foix Sotos (Javea, Spain) followed with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Hamdan at No. 6 to extend the lead.
Andersson secured the match for Queens with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory over Mergens at No. 2.
Sophomore
Pablo Serrano (Cochabamba, Bolivia) made it 5-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Pollack at No. 5, before Martin-Gibiard added another point with a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Chitanand at No. 3.
Senior
Lucas Foix Sotos (Javea, Spain) capped off the sweep at No. 1, defeating Garcia 6-1, 6-4.
