Box Score 2 Sparkill, N.Y. - Queens College senior, Cat Pastor had three hits and scored three times in 12-9 loss to St. Thomas Aquinas in an East Coast Conference softball game played in Sparkill, New York on Wednesday. The second game was suspended in the second inning with the Knights ahead, 2-0. That game will be completed prior to a doubleheader at Queens on April 11.
STAC took a 1-0 lead in the first off a solo homerun. Queens answered back with two in the third. Alicia Gonzalez led off the frame with a bunt single. Pastor followed with a base hit of her own. Two batters later, Monique Roberge connected on a two-RBI double that scored Gonzalez and Pastor and put QC up, 2-1.
Another solo shot by the Spartans evened the score at 2-2. The QC bats heated up again in the fourth. Kylie Spillett led off with a walk and Jeannie Callanan ran for her. Two batters later, Gonzalez reached on an error. Pastor put Queens ahead, 3-2, with a singled that drove in Callanan. Samantha Mattsson followed with a double that plated Gonzalez and Pastor. ToniMarie Valeriano followed with a hit. Roberge picked up her third RBI with a single that scored Mattsson. Valeriano later scored on an error. In the inning, QC scored five runs on four hits and led, 7-2 after four innings.
STAC scored twice in the fourth to make the score 7-4, but the Knights answered once again in the top of the fifth. Pastor reached on a single and Mattsson walked and they both came in on an error when Roberge was up.
The Spartans scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 12-9 lead. They held on for the 12-9 win. The Knights clobberred ten hits in the game.
Game two was suspended in the second innings with the Knights ahead, 2-0.
