Box Score

Brookville, N.Y. - The Queens College softball team saw its 2014 come to a close with a 19-3 loss to Dowling in the East Coast Conference championship played on the campus of LIU Post in Brookville, New York on Saturday.  Both Kayla Morrissey and Kaitlyn Crowley hit home runs for the Knights.

Dowling came out of the gate on fire, scoring ten runs in the first inning and driving Monique Roberge from the circle just four batters into the game.  Isabelle Yaroch came in to relieve her, but she fared little better.

The Golden Lions added an 11th run in the second, but the Knights got on the board in the bottom of the second when Morrissey blasted a homer over the wall in centerfield.

The Knights rallied in the fourth and scored twice.  With two outs, Crowley blasted a ball down the left field line that caromed off the foul pole for a homer.  Nicole Pirretti followed with a double and came in to score on a Melissa Natale base hit to center.

Morgan Starley closed the game for the Knights in the circle.  Samantha Mattsson also had a single.

The Queens College softball team finished the season with a 31-18-1 record.  The team will wait until the NCAA softball selection show on Monday morning, 10:00 AM eastern to see if they earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship.
