Yaroch pitched all eight innings and struck out 11 and was the
tough-luck loser in a 2-1 setback against Cedarville on Saturday.
Monique
Roberge also collected two hits for Queens.
The game remained scoreless into the bottom of the third before
the Yellow Jackets got on the scoreboard. Nikki Eigsti double
to left and later stole third. She later scored on a fielding
error by Yaroch and Cedarville had a 1-0 lead.
From there, neither side scored until the Knights' final at-bat
in the seventh. Cat Pastor was hit by a
pitch with one out. Nicole
Pirretti singled in the infield and Pastor moved to second.
Stevianne
Ognibene, a freshman on the team, collected her first RBI with
a game-tying single up the middle that scored Pastor.
In the eighth, Nicole Davis was placed on second to start the
inning. Two batters later, Carlyn Hanzel ripped an RBI single
that scored Davis and ended the game, 2-1 for Cedarville.
The Queens softball team faces Nyack on Saturday afternoon
looking for their first win of the season.
