Box Score 2 New Haven, Conn. - Following a home sweep of Dowling on
Thursday, the Knights softball team went on the road on Good Friday
and dropped a pair to Southern Connecticut State, 5-4 and
8-0.  The 5-4 game was decided in 10 innings.Game One:THe
Knights fell behind 3-0 as Central Connecticut scored an unearned
run in the second and two more earned runs in the fifth. 
However, Queens rallied late to force extra innings.Melissa Natale
(Yaphank, N.Y./Longwood) led off the sixth with a bunt single and
she came around when Kaitlyn Crowley (Patchogue, N.Y./St. John the
Baptist) blasted a two-run homer over the wall.  The Knights
grabbed a 4-3 lead later in the inning when Sara Schendel (Seattle,
Wash./Cheif Stealth International) and Caroline Carbone (East
Williston, N.Y/Wheatley School) scored a pair of unearned runs.The
lead didn't last long, howver as Southern evened the score in the
bottom of the sixth.  The game remained tied until the bottom
of the tenth, when they score the game-winning run on a groundout
and a single.Natale and Schendel led the Knights with two hits a
piece.  Crowley drove in both earned runs and Isabelle Yaroch
(Annadale, Va./Annandale) was tagged with the loss.Game Two:The
Knights lost game two, 8-0, in five innings.Queens College had
three hits in the game, one each from Natale, Monique Roberge (New
Hyde Park, N.Y./Sewanhaka) and Athena Soregaroli (Massapequa Park,
N.Y./Mercy College).  Yaroch took the loss in game two as
well.The Knights return to East Coast Conference action on
Saturday, March 30, when they face St. Thomas Aquinas in Sparkill,
New York.
