Box Score Flushing, N.Y. (March 28, 2013) – The Queens College
women's lacrosse team defeated the Grand Valley State Lakers
17-7 on the lacrosse field on the campus of Queens College. The win
puts them over .500 at 4-3 overall (1-0 in ECC).
The first half ended with the Knights leading by a margin of
8-3. The half featured three goals from junior Taylor Martello and
two goals by senior Kayleen Kelty, one when QC played a player up.
Kelty's goal came off of a free position, as did fellow
senior Heather Rosen's. Sophomore Shannon Doody and
senior Melissa Montreuil added a goal apiece for Queens.
Coming out of halftime, the Knights took over. Just over two
minutes in, senior Janine Guerra scored two consecutive goals, one
with a player up. Rosen added two more goals in the second
half, as did Doody. Montreuil also added a goal in the half. The
Knights netted both free position opportunities in the half.
Defensively, the Knights caused eight Laker turnovers and won 13
draws. In net, Knights goaltender junior Kahli Evans earned her
fourth win of the 2013 season. She recorded 11 saves in the
victory.
The Knights will host Philadelphia University in Flushing, N.Y.
on Saturday March 30, 2013 at 12 PM.
