Box Score ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - Juniors Heather Rosen (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Sarah Boucher (Oceanside, N.Y.) scored six points apiece, while sophomore goalie Kahli Evans (Adelaide, Australia) made 17 saves - including a game-saving stop at the final horn, as the Queens College women's lacrosse team moved to 2-0 on the young season with a 12-11 triumph over Assumption College, Wednesday night at the Dean G. Skelos Complex.
Boucher collected four goals, two assists, four ground balls, five draw controls (game-high-tying) and a game-best three caused turnovers. Meanwhile, Rosen, the No. 2 player in Division II last season in goals per game, fired home six goals to lead all scorers. Junior midfielder Brittany Wooster (Lynbrook, N.Y.) led all players with eight ground balls for the Knights.
Queens broke open a 4-all contest with seven straight goals, leading to a 9-4 halftime edge and an 11-4 margin after Rosen's tally 5:55 into the second frame. But the Greyhounds (0-2) did not go away quietly, scoring seven of the last eight goals of the game to pull within the 12-11 final margin. From there, Evans (who made all but six of her saves in the second half) made a stop on an open shot from the top of the eight-meter fan at the final horn to keep QC undefeated thus far under first-year head coach, Tricia Moran Bonagura.
The Knights now have two weeks off, before they travel to Philadelphia University for a 3:30 p.m. start on Mar. 21.
