Box Score BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. - The junior duo of Heather Rosen (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Sarah Boucher (Oceanside, N.Y.) combined for 11 goals Saturday night at Golden Lions Stadium, but it was not enough for the Queens College women's lacrosse team, which dropped its first decision of the 2012 campaign at 13th-ranked Dowling College, 17-13, in East Coast Conference action.
The visiting Knights (5-1, 0-1 ECC) saw Rosen, the nation's leading goal scorer, net six goals and tally one assist. Boucher added five goals of her own, and contributed a career-high 13 draw controls in the game. Senior Meghan Monahan (Amityville, N.Y.) filled the stat sheet with two goals, three ground balls, two draw controls and as many caused turnovers. Sophomore goalie Kahli Evans (Adelaide, Australia) made 11 of her 13 saves in the opening half of play.
Queens led early by a 1-0 count, and tied the game at the 5-5 and 6-6 marks late in the first half. The deficit got as large as seven midway through the second frame, but the Knights never gave up and pulled to within a four-goal margin with two minutes remaining on Monahan's second tally of the contest.
Head coach Tricia Moran Bonagura's QC side is back in action at home Wednesday afternoon (April 4), when it plays host to third-ranked, ECC foe C.W. Post at 3:30 p.m.
