Box Score FLUSHING, N.Y. - Senior Meghan Monahan (Amityville, N.Y.), and juniors Heather Rosen (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Sarah Boucher (Oceanside, N.Y.) all scored four goals Monday afternoon, as the Queens College women's lacrosse team moved to 5-0 on the 2012 season with an 18-5 victory over visiting Dominican College.
Rosen (3 a) led all scorers with seven points, while Boucher added two assists and a season-best 10 draw controls. Monahan tied for the game-high with seven ground balls and added two assists, three caused turnovers and two draw controls. Junior Kayleen Kelty (Valley Stream, N.Y.) picked up a hat trick, while freshman Shannon Doody (Lynbrook, N.Y.) added four ground balls, three caused turnovers, one goal and three assists. Sophomore goalie Kahli Evans (Adelaide, Australia) turned aside five shots in each half to keep the visiting Chargers at bay.
Queens never trailed in the game, and used a 6-1 spurt over the final 17:51 of the first half to take a commanding 9-3 lead into halftime. Doody dished out two assists during the stretch, and scored the final goal of the half on a free-position shot at the 3:15 mark.
After a pair of Dominican tallies brought the visitors to within a 12-5 margin with 23:37 remaining, Monahan scored off a Boucher feed on the break just 22 seconds later, as the tally was the start of a 6-0 stretch to end the contest for the hosts.
Head coach Tricia Moran Bonagura's Knights now head into East Coast Conference play Saturday afternoon, when they travel to Brookhaven, N.Y., for a 4 p.m. start at defending ECC champion, No. 13 Dowling College.
