SHIRLEY, N.Y. – Fifth-ranked Dowling College proved to be too much for the Queens College women's lacrosse team Wednesday afternoon, as it captured a 25-5 victory over the Knights in a contest played at Golden Lions Field.
For Queens (8-8, 2-5 ECC), Sarah Boucher led the way with three goals, four draw controls and two ground balls. Fellow sophomore Heather Rosen added two goals for the Knights, while goalie Kahli Evans forced three turnovers from her cage and turned aside eight shots (seven first half) from Dowling (13-2, 6-0 ECC).
Boucher's free-position shot knotted the game at 1-all 2:06 into the game, before the Golden Lions scored the next three markers of the contest. Boucher added a tally with 10:28 left in the half to pull Queens within a 6-3 count, before Dowling ended the half on an 8-2 run to take a 14-5 lead into halftime.
Head coach Kerry Hausdorf's Queens side wraps up its season Saturday morning (May 7), when it plays host to Lake Erie in an East Coast Conference match-up at 11 a.m.
