FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College softball team fell in a pair of East Coast Conference contests Monday afternoon, losing to Molloy College by scores of 8-0 in five innings, and 5-0.

Prior to the contest, the host Knights honored their three seniors; Samantha Stallone, Bryttne Santana and Julia Carbone; while also raising awareness for epidermolysis bullosa and Parkinson's disease – a pair of diseases that have hit close to the Queens College softball family. Robbie Twible, son of Queens assistant director of athletics, Rob Twible, has been diagnosed with "EB." Meanwhile, Knights assistant softball coach, Anthony Coladonato, was diagnosed with the early stages of Parkinson's disease not long ago.

Game 1: Molloy 8, Queens 0 (5 inn.)

Sophomore pitcher Megan Butterworth fired a complete-game two-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts for the visiting Lions (31-10, 16-5 ECC), while the duo of Haley Calderwood and Carla Campagna combined to go 7-for-8 with three runs scored and as many RBI.

Queens (20-22, 9-13 ECC) got base hits from Allison Breakey and Melissa Natale, while starting pitcher Bryttne Santana (4 IP, 4 ER, 11 H, 2 BB, 2 K) received one walk at the dish.

Molloy scored twice in the first, three more times in the second and once in the third to take a commanding 6-0 lead. The Lions tacked on two more in their half of the fifth inning to end the contest.

Game 2: Molloy 5, Queens 0

Kelley Jansen was dominant in the pitcher's circle for Molloy, tossing a two-hitter with three walks and 10 strikeouts. The Lions registered four runs in the fourth inning to break a scoreless deadlock and tacked on an insurance run in the sixth frame to account for the scoring.

Catherine Pastor ripped her seventh double of the season for the Knights, while Breakey managed one base hit – the fourth straight contest in which she's reached base. Kaitlyn Crowley took two walks in her plate appearances, while starting pitcher Julia Carbone scattered eight hits with one walk and one strikeout.

Head coach Brian DeMasters' Knights will look to get back on the winning track Tuesday afternoon (April 27), as they travel to Old Westbury, N.Y., for a 3 p.m. ECC twinbill at New York Institute of Technology.
