BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore Heather Rosen scored four free-position goals Tuesday afternoon at Hickox Field for the Queens College women's lacrosse team, which fell in its East Coast Conference opener at sixth-ranked C.W. Post, 17-8.

Brittany Wooster and Rosen controlled five and four draws, respectively, for the Knights (6-4, 0-1 ECC), who were outshot by a 30-22 margin while keeping things close in the ground balls (CWP, 30-26) and draw controls (CWP, 15-14) departments. Meghan Monahan added two points (1 g, 1 a), three draw controls and two ground balls, while single goals went to Melissa Montreuil, Julianne Lostrappo (1 gb, 1 dc) and Sarah Boucher (game-high-tying 5 gb, 1 ct). Sophomore keeper Kahli Evans turned aside eight shots from the Pioneers (8-1, 4-0 ECC) in defeat.

C.W. Post scored the first five goals of the game over the opening 12 minutes of play, before Rosen and Montreuil netted back-to-back tallies to pull Queens within three, with 16:37 left in the first half. The Pioneers scored the next four goals, though, which served as the start of a half-ending 9-2 run en route to a 14-4 halftime lead for the hosts.

The Pioneers scored three straight over the opening 14-plus minutes of the second half, before Queens buried four tallies over the final 11:49 of play.

Head coach Kerry Hausdorf's Knights are back in ECC action Thursday afternoon, when they play host to Seton Hill University in a 2 p.m. opening draw.
