FLUSHING, N.Y. – After a week off due to the nor'easter that impacted the region, the Queens College women's volleyball team returns to action Wednesday as the Knights open East Coast Conference (ECC) play. Queens enters Week Six with an overall record of 2-12 and is coming off a four-set setback against Pace University in non-conference play.
As a team, the Knights have totaled 449 kills at 9.0 kills per set, 422 assists at 8.4 assists per set, 104 service aces at 2.1 aces per set, 644 digs at 12.9 digs per set, and 60 total blocks at 1.2 blocks per set.
Rookie
Zoe Sercu leads the Knights with 138 kills and 2.82 kills per set while recording three double-doubles on the season. Sercu earned her second weekly honor of the season and first ECC Honor Roll selection Monday. Against Pace, Sercu tied for the team lead with seven kills while adding three digs and two blocks.
Fellow rookie
Lucia Bennett has recorded 92 kills at 1.84 kills per set while adding 12 total blocks. Bennett posted a career-high 13 kills in the Knights' five-set victory over Post University on Aug. 28.
Rookie
Kaiya Banks leads Queens with 183 assists while adding 19 service aces, 19 kills, and 95 digs. On Sept. 21, Banks was named to the ECC Honor Roll for the first time this season. She recorded a career-high 24 assists in the Knights' 3-2 victory over Georgian Court University, while adding five digs, two service aces, and two kills in the five-set victory.
Queens begins the week on the road Wednesday in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., where the Knights will face defending ECC champion Mercy University before returning home Saturday morning to host Roberts Wesleyan University at Fitzgerald Gymnasium.
Mercy University Preview
The Mavericks enter the week with a 10-1 overall record and are coming off a three-set sweep of receiving-votes American International College on Sept. 24.
Wednesday's match will mark the 53rd all-time meeting between the two programs, with Queens holding a 28-24 advantage in the series. The Knights will look to snap a six-match skid against the Mavericks and are seeking their first victory in Dobbs Ferry since Oct. 3, 2017, when Queens earned a three-set sweep.
Roberts Wesleyan University Preview
The Redhawks enter the week with an overall record of 2-11 and are coming off a five-set loss to Ursuline University on Sept. 23.
Saturday's meeting will mark the 27th all-time matchup between the two programs, with Queens trailing the series, 11-15. The Knights are seeking their first victory over the Redhawks since the 2024 season, when Queens swept the season series.
Last season, the Knights were swept by Roberts Wesleyan, falling in five sets at home on Oct. 12 before dropping a four-set decision in Rochester.
NEXT WEEK OUTLOOK
Queens will conclude non-conference play on Oct. 8 when the Knights travel to Bridgeport, Conn., to face the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights before returning home to host the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans in ECC play to conclude the week.
